Stroll the boardwalk south to Whalers Village (~15 min walk from Black Rock). For lunch: Leilani's on the Beach for Hawaiian fish and Pacific fare, or Hula Grill next door. After lunch, browse local and brand-name stores, visit the Hawai'i Wildlife Discovery Center, and grab shave ice at Island Vintage Coffee.

In the evening, Hula Grill is the spot to be — feet in the sand, live music 6–8 PM, and a hula show 7–8 PM. Make reservations 3 weeks in advance.

UFO Parasail operates right off Ka'anapali Beach and offers single, tandem, and triple rides. About 1.5 hours total including check-in and boat ride — the actual flight is 8–10 minutes. Great aerial views of the full Ka'anapali strip, Molokini in the distance, and the West Maui Mountains behind you.

Teralani and Trilogy Excursions both run sunset sails departing right from Ka'anapali Beach, typically 5:00–7:00 PM. Light appetizers included. The views of the West Maui Mountains at golden hour from the water are hard to beat — a good alternative to the boardwalk walk if the group wants something more active for the evening.

Sunset is around 7:15 PM in August. Walk the full boardwalk north toward Black Rock and time your arrival for the Sheraton's nightly torch lighting and cliff dive ceremony at Pu'u Keka'a. A staff member in traditional Hawaiian dress lights torches along the rock as the sun goes down, then dives into the ocean — a genuine Ka'anapali tradition that's easy to miss if you don't plan for it. Grab a drink from Inu Pool Bar to take along.
