🀿 Snorkel β€” Black Rock (Pu'u Keka'a)
Maui's #1 shore snorkel spot, a 10-minute walk north along the Ka'anapali boardwalk from the resort. Sea turtles, reef fish, and a dramatic lava rock drop-off make this one of the best snorkels on the island. Enter from the sandy beach on the south side of the rock. Gear rental available at the Sheraton beach concession right at the site.
Arrive early β€” turtles most active in the morning, conditions best before wind picks up Gear rental ~$15–25/set if needed Not lifeguarded Β· Watch for cliff jumpers above your entry point Β· Check hioceansafety.com

After lunch, browse local and brand-name stores, visit the Hawai'i Wildlife Discovery Center, and grab shave ice at Island Vintage Coffee.

Sunset is around 7:15 PM in August. Walk the full boardwalk north toward Black Rock and time your arrival for the Sheraton's nightly torch lighting and cliff dive ceremony at Pu'u Keka'a. A staff member in traditional Hawaiian dress lights torches along the rock as the sun goes down, then dives into the ocean β€” a genuine Ka'anapali tradition that's easy to miss if you don't plan for it. Grab a drink from Inu Pool Bar to take along.
