Pack TONIGHT — snorkel gear, towels, water, everything for the beach. Early 6:00 AM departure from Poipu.
Confirm Ha'ena State Park (Ke'e Beach) reservation on your phone before leaving — advance booking required through Hawaii DLNR. No reservation = no entry.
Check ocean conditions: hioceansafety.com — Ke'e and Tunnels are not lifeguarded; North Shore conditions can change quickly. When in doubt, don't go out.
Arrive at Princeville Botanical Gardens by 9:00 AM (30 min before the 9:30 AM tour start) — Bookings #346065852 & #346065603.
Day Warnings
Leave Poipu by 6:00–6:15 AM — early departure is essential to get clear water and empty beaches at Ke'e and Tunnels before clouds roll in over the mountains.
Tunnels Beach parking is street-only and fills instantly. Arriving directly from Ke'e before 8 AM puts you ahead of the crowd. If full, park at Ha'ena Beach Park and walk ~10 min east along the sand.
Botanical garden paths can be muddy — wear river shoes, not flip flops. Mosquitoes are active near the cacao trees — apply bug repellent before the tour.
