Do Before You Leave
Sign all liability waivers TONIGHT — Eric, Courtney, and Lori must sign before check-in. Do not wait until the morning. Waivers may be available online at kauaibackcountry.com.
Pick up cash at Hanapepe tonight — needed for tomorrow's Island Helicopters tour. Cash saves $49.80 vs. card ($1,245 vs. $1,294.80). ATM available near the art night.
Prep breakfast burritos tonight — wrap in foil to heat quickly in the morning before 7:30 AM check-in. Allow 35–40 min drive from Poipu to Lihue.
Check-in at Kauai Backcountry Adventures is 7:30 AM SHARP — tours leave promptly. Address: 3-4131 Kuhio Hwy, Lihue · (855) 846-0092.
Day Warnings
Waivers: all 3 unsigned (Eric, Courtney, Lori) — must be signed before 7:30 AM check-in. Mandatory weigh-in at check-in: 100–250 lbs for zipline, 300 lbs max for tubing.
Zipline clothing rules: knee-length shorts or leggings required (no dresses, no short shorts). Closed-toe footwear only — no sandals or flip flops. Hair ties mandatory for long hair. Note: operator's stated rule is "no water shoes" because they can slip on platforms — heads up that we're planning to wear river shoes; confirm with the guide at check-in.
Tubing clothing rules: river shoes only (no flip flops in the tunnels). Wear clothes you don't mind getting soaked and muddy. You will get wet — guaranteed.

📋Waivers & Check-In
Signed liability waivers — all 3 guests essential
Must be pre-signed before 7:30 AM check-in. Eric & Courtney: Zipline #346095422 / Tubing #346095426 · Lori: Zipline #346094827 / Tubing #346095782. No waiver = no tour.
Booking confirmations on phone
Zipline: Eric & Courtney #346095422, Lori #346094827 · Tubing: Eric & Courtney #346095426, Lori #346095782 · Operator: (855) 846-0092
🏄Clothing — Zipline (Morning)
Knee-length shorts or leggings essential
Required for zipline harness fit. No short shorts, no dresses. Athletic capris or leggings are ideal — must extend to the knee.
River shoes essential
Same shoes for both zipline and tubing — closed-toe with grip soles. Operator's posted rule is "no water shoes" on the zipline platforms — confirm with the guide at check-in.
Hair tie (if hair is long) essential
Required before harnessing — long hair must be secured before your guide will let you on the line. Pack a spare just in case.
Lightweight layer or UV sun shirt
Can be breezy at elevation on the ziplines. A light long-sleeve UV shirt doubles as warmth and sun protection on the exposed lines.
Swimsuit (worn under zipline clothes) essential
Zipline tour ends at a bamboo grove with lunch and a cool mountain swim. Wear under your zipline outfit so you're ready.
Sun hat / cap
Sun-exposed on the platforms at elevation. A cap that fits under the helmet is ideal.
🚣Clothing — Tubing (Afternoon)
River shoes (same pair from zipline) essential
Same river shoes worn for the zipline carry into the tubing tour. No flip flops — the tunnels are slippery and shoes must stay on your feet.
Change of clothes + towel(s) essential
You will get soaked and muddy on the tubing tour. Bring dry clothes to change into after — especially important if heading to Hanapepe Art Night.
Dry bag or large ziplock bags
Protect your phone and wallet during tubing. The canals are wet and the tunnels are dark — you don't want a waterlogged phone.
🎒Gear & Essentials
Bug repellent essential
Both tours pass through lush jungle terrain. Apply before the morning zipline and reapply before tubing. Mosquitoes are active near the irrigation canals.
Reef-safe sunscreen
Apply before the morning zipline. Tubing is shaded in the canals, but you'll be exposed on the walk between stops and driving to/from Lihue.
Water bottle
Both tours provide water, but bring your own for the drive to and from Lihue and while waiting between tours.
Camera / GoPro
GoPro is ideal for the tubing tunnels — dark, dramatic, and very photogenic. Ask your guide about attachment rules for the zipline before clipping anything on.
Sunglasses essential
Cash cash
For food trucks and vendors at Hanapepe Art Night (dinner). Also pick up tomorrow's helicopter cash tonight — $1,245 needed for Island Helicopters.
Phone / portable battery
Wallet / ID / credit card essential
For Art Night vendors, the ATM stop for tomorrow's helicopter cash, and gas/incidentals.
Personal medications
Lip balm with SPF
Exposed at elevation on the zipline platforms.
Phone charger / cable
Long active day — GoPro, photos, and GPS use will drain batteries.
Deodorant (in car)
For the freshen-up at the villa after the muddy tubing tour before heading to Hanapepe.
Wet wipes / hand sanitizer
Quick cleanup between tubing mud and Art Night — useful if there's a delay getting to the villa shower.
🎨Hanapepe Art Night (Evening)
Clean outfit for Art Night
After tubing you'll be wet and muddy — bring something clean to change into before the galleries and food trucks. Smart casual is perfectly fine.
Personal hotspot (optional)
Cell signal in Hanapepe can be spotty. Useful if vendors or food trucks need card readers to work reliably.
Sandals / flip flops for evening
After changing out of river shoes — dry footwear for the food trucks and gallery walk.
Light layer / sweatshirt
Art Night runs until 8 PM and Hanapepe can cool down once the sun drops.
